Letter from the Head

Dear families:

"On behalf of the Agora Sant Cugat International School Campus community, I warmly welcome you to our website and thank you for your interest in our education project.

An old African proverb says that it takes a whole village to educate a child. In the three schools of the Agora Sant Cugat Campus, we are aware that in order to achieve the common objective of supporting each and every student in their academic, emotional and personal development, the participation of the whole community is necessary - students, families and staff members.

Our Education Project has a clear international vision and we implement the international curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Organisation in all the year groups which broadens the educational experience of students and challenges them to put their knowledge and understanding into practice, working on processes and not only on content. The IB Continuum of the Primary Years Programme in Infants and Primary, the Middle Years Programme in Secondary and the Diploma Programme offer students, along with the National Baccalaureate, this solid and recognised international education.

Multilingualism for our children is no longer an option; it is a necessity. Living successfully as citizens of a globalised world requires a full command of English, which, together with the mother tongues of the majority of our students, Catalan and Spanish, allows them to not only communicate effectively but also gives them access to further studies, jobs and the possibility to interact socially anywhere in the world. Our students also learn a fourth foreign language and its culture when they choose German, French or Chinese.

The educational framework of STEAM - Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics – play a fundamental part in our education project. Art and Technology are two sides of the same coin, essential to understand the world and to develop and enjoy the aesthetic sense, creativity and entrepreneurship in each of our students.

Our students’ health and well-being is fully integrated into our educational project with aspects such as sports, as part of the curriculum or an extra-school activity, an education in healthy eating, where the school dining room is another teaching area, make it possible for our students to acquire the healthy lifestyle habits needed to accompany them throughout their lives.

Without emotion or affection, there is no meaningful learning. Our students arrive at school every day with enthusiasm, perseverance and a curiosity to learn and strive. Our class tutors and teachers work hard to accompany them in an educational environment that gives them the security and confidence they need to discover and develop their talents and work habits, as well as mature in their personality and emotional and social intelligence.

Globeducate events are organised and held annually in each of the different Globeducate schools in Europe and include the Arts Competition, Globeducate Model United Nations, Academic Olympics, Sports Olympics and the International Music Festival. These events offer our students an excellent opportunity to form relationships, work, learn and live together with students from other countries and, at the same time, promote global preparation and reinforce the spirit of solidarity, empathy and collaboration, important values transmitted by all our school staff.

The work and vocation of all our professionally trained staff in Agora Sant Cugat International School, Agora Pipo Infant School and Agora Patufet Infant School guarantee that every student can grow and develop academically, personally and emotionally in a safe, stimulating and happy environment.

Thank you once again for taking the time to visit our webpage and we hope that you are able to contact us for further information if you continue to be interested in our education project."

Kindest regards,

Jordi Ros
