International Baccalaureate

The Diploma Programme (DP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB) is a prestigious programme recognised worldwide that ensures pupils are adaptable and mobile by encouraging them to be active, creative and of service to the community. The benefits of the International Baccalaureate are many as the programme gives students a solid training and excellent preparation, allowing them to develop their personal capacities and focus on their futures.

The IB Diploma Programme is recognised by top universities worldwide. In addition, studies indicate that a higher proportion of DP students make it into university than those who do not study it.

The programme allows students to develop unique and vital skills for when they are seeking an international career. Throughout the International Baccalaureate pupils acquire a cultural awareness, fluency in a foreign language, independent thought, in-depth analysis, teamwork and social commitment. All this makes sure they are able to communicate effectively with people from other countries and cultures with respect and tolerance.

IB boosts their sense of identity and awareness of their own culture and those of others, fostering the development and respect for human values while stimulating their curiosity and eagerness to look into things and discover. They get pleasure out of learning and applying their knowledge in a wider range of fields.

Our students can combine IB with the Spanish national Baccalaureate, and those students who opt to do so obtain both qualifications: the national one and the international one.

WHAT THOSE INVOLVED HAVE TO SAY

“I entered Agora in 1st of Primary and last year I graduated. Over the course of these years at the school I have met lots of classmates and teachers, creating links that I know will last a long time. At the school I have always found a positive and uplifting atmosphere, and the education offered is rigorous, but with an important human factor.

Particularly lately, the school has tried to adapt to a globalised world, offering multiple internationalisation projects, such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) that I studied. The IB is a demanding programme which requires a great personal commitment, but which provides a very complete education. Now that I am at university, I realise everything I have learnt, such as independent work, which will benefit me not just in my future as a student, but in my whole life.”

Marta Gonzalvo

Former pupil class of 2013-14

“Since I started teaching at Agora (a little more than 20 years ago), the world has changed a lot: globalisation, advances in information and communication technologies, concern for the environment, the growth of multiculturalism in our society… And our educational project has adapted to these new social needs.

What has not changed in all this time is the demand of pupils and families, who still want to find in us the best preparation for the future of the young generations. Since our pupils have been able to choose to study the International Baccalaureate, I feel that we open another door to them to obtain an education which sets them apart. The experience of the International Baccalaureate is a new perspective in learning and in teaching, so that pupils learn in a more meaningful way and become greater protagonists in their education.

In addition, in having to complement their curriculum with creativity, action, and service activities, one of the fundamental objectives of our educational project is achieved, which is the comprehensive education of our students. Therefore, we continue to educate the best students and the best people. “” Since I started teaching at Agora (a little more than 20 years ago), the world has changed a lot: globalisation, advances in information and communication technologies, concern for the environment, the growth of multiculturalism in our society… And our educational project has adapted to these new social needs.
