Sports, Health and Fitness

The natural environment surrounding our schools is ideal for the practice of sporting activities, which help students of all ages to develop and promote values such as perseverance, self-improvement, teamwork and cooperation, also enhancing their social skills.

The psychomotor development of children during the first years of life is essential for correct progress in cognitive, linguistic and social development, which is why at our Pipo and Patufet infant schools we encourage them to learn and explore the world around them in a sensory way.

At Agora Sant Cugat International School, sport is an integral part of the curriculum, instilling in our pupils a passion for sport and healthy habits so that they become physically and emotionally balanced adults. With 1 swimming session per week in the Infant and Primary stages, we aim to promote one of the most complete, healthy sports recommended by specialists in which global physical development is worked on.

Healthy education

The school has extensive sporting facilities (13,715 m2), including a full-size Astroturf football pitch, four hard courts, two gymnasiums, and more. Throughout Infant and Primary students have a weekly swimming lesson and pupils are invited to participate in school and leagues fixtures, as well as larger sporting events organised throughout the year. The pupils at Agora Sant Cugat International School enjoy numerous sporting events over the course of the school year: skiing and snowboarding week in Andorra and La Molina, the Bicycle Race against Hunger and the Fair Play Tournament during the “Fiesta Major”, the Sports Day, and the Rhythmic Gymnastics and Dance Festival. Sports Camps, multi-sports programmes and skills improvement sessions are organised during the summer and Easter holidays.

We also organise events such as the Volkswagen Junior Masters of Football Tournament, talks, and school events with the participation of elite sportspeople such as world padel tennis champion Fernando Belasteguin; David López, former pupil and Espanyol FC player; Gemma Mengual, synchronised swimming champion; or F.C. Barcelona players, thanks to whom our young sportspeople play an exhibition match in front of the spectators at the Palau Blaugrana during half time at some Indoor Football League matches.

As well as taking part in sports within the mainstream curriculum, students at Agora Sant Cugat International School are also invited to participate in a range of international sporting events organised by the Globeducate group. These events celebrate sporting excellence and healthy competition and provide an opportunity for our international community to gather together. The Globeducate Olympic Games is an international Olympic-style event that brings together over 500 athletes from Globeducate’s schools around the world. In addition to promoting an active lifestyle, our students also participate in a comprehensive health project, focussing on good nutrition and healthy eating.

In addition, as part of our approach to looking after the health of our students, we have developed a programme which takes place in our Agora Expedition Centre in Andorra.

Canteen:

We are convinced of the need to follow a balanced diet and, for this reason, in all 3 centres we follow a recommendation made by nutritionists and carried out by a specialised kitchen team.

The centre adapts the daily menu according to the specific needs of the pupils (allergies, special diets or illnesses) with personal attention to each pupil.

Extracurricular sporting activities

Activities such as psychomotor education or beginner’s sports lead up to sports like football, basketball, swimming, athletics, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, padel tennis, judo, table tennis, chess, fencing and indoor football as extracurricular activities, or playing multiple sports in Physical Education (handball, volleyball, baseball, hockey, rugby, acrosport, badminton, tennis…), as well as specifically working on physical fitness.

Mental Health and Educational Psychology Department

In our three centres, we have a Guidance and Educational Psychology Department, made up of child psychologists, two educational psychologists and a speech therapist, with the aim of guiding and advising parents, pupils and teachers. A differential service dedicated to dealing individually with the educational needs of the pupils and attending to the diversity of the pupils, collaborating with the families to achieve educational excellence for each and every one of our pupils.
